Bean Station Police Department
The mission of the Bean Station Police Department is to be dedicated to protecting and serving the citizens of the Town of Bean Station. Our primary responsibility is to protect life, liberty and property, while maintaining integrity, fairness and professionalism. We will ensure that the Constitution of the United States, Tennessee State Law, and City Ordinances are enforced. We take pride in the partnership we have with the community to enhance the quality of life in the Town of Bean Station.



Bean Station Police Officers

Chief John McMurray
Chief John McMurray started his career in law enforcement as a reserve deputy at the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office in the early 2000s. He graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, basic police training in 2003. Chief McMurray has served as a patrol deputy as well as detective for Claiborne and Grainger Counties as well as a patrolman and detective for the Bean Station Police Department. McMurray has spent the majority of his career as a detective, and has attended several specialized training classes for investigations. Including a six-week State Academy hosted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in 2016. He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice in 2019 from Bethel University. He came back to Bean Station Police Department as detective in March of 2019 and was appointed as Chief of Police in February of 2020.

Det Sgt Luke Jarnigan
Detective Jarnigan began in law enforcement with the Mt Carmel Police Department in 2014. He has also worked for the Grainger County Sheriff’s Department and Knox County Sheriff’s Department before joining BSPD in 2020. He has been a patrol officer and Narcotics Detective in the past. Detective Jarnigan was the 2022 Officer of the Year with Bean Station and currently serves as a Detective Sergeant with the agency.

Ptl Spencer Holt
Officer Spencer Holt began law enforcement with the Tazewell Police Department in 2021. He has also worked for the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department before joining
Bean Station as a part time officer in late 2023, eventually a becoming full time patrol officer the same year.

Ptl Jared Etherton

Officer Jared Etherton began law enforcement in 2017 with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He has also worked with the New Market Police Department. He has been serving since 2023 with the Bean Station Police Department as a patrol officer. Officer Etherton was the 2023 BSPD Officer of the Year and serves as a media relation contact with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
